EdYoda, a digital platform that imparts industry-relevant skills through a zero-cost learning program. EdYoda aims to serve the underserved students and professionals from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities and colleges by educating them on industry-relevant skills through zero-cost learning programs. EdYoda makes students industry-ready by building their skills in areas including data science, Cloud, machine learning, web development, and programming through its rigorous programs.

What was the vision behind Edyoda’s business model?

EdYoda educates on job-relevant skills and connects the skilled talent to job opportunities through the employer network. We are reimagining higher education, a digital alternative education system that’s focused on skill-based education for jobs.

The bigger vision behind EdYoda is to enable access to skills and opportunities for everyone.

What are the changes in policies and strategies, the company has initiated to successfully run this model?

We started up as a completely offline model where we delivered the programs at our office premises. This helped us understand the nuances of technical education delivery. After nearly 500 graduates and once we had perfected the offline programs, we ventured into scaling the impact by taking the same physical experience to the digital world. Leveraging technology we started delivering the online sessions and our student count 10Xed.

We also started partnering with employers to enable faster access to opportunities for our students.

Further to make learning really affordable all our self-paced courses are completely free. Users also have a choice of paying a delayed fee for our Instructor-led programs and can pay the fee once they are employed and have a job.

What are the expected expansions?

Nearly 100 students complete the programs every month; we are planning to increase this number by opening offices in 10 more locations across the country. The delivery of the program will continue to be online however it helps if we can counsel the students while they are choosing the programs and make them believe that others have done it and you can do it too. The community of these students can engage and connect with mentors at these locations.

What is the company’s success story in this domain?

We have had a great start. With nearly 50,000 registered users doing self-paced courses we also have more than 1400 graduates completing the instructor-led programs and working for top companies including Amazon, Cognizant, Cerner, Bosch, and 200 others. Their success is a testament to the pedagogy and the approach of the program delivery.

A lot of these students are from tier 2 and tier 3 India with limited access to such high-quality learning. Being able to serve these students has been the real success of the EdYoda team.

What is the company’s client base?

We currently have 50,000 registered users; more than 1400 have graduated from the instructor-led programs and are working for 200+ companies.

We are also working with 30+ enterprises on skilling the hired talent including IBM, Epsilon, Cerner, General Electric and several others.

What is the insight that you have about this market and what is your uniqueness?

The MOOCs have been fairly old; however, we saw a major gap. Students from tier 2,3 cities and colleges not only need content but as this is their first step in the real world, they need a lot of mentoring and handholding. Also, most of these students are looking for jobs after the programs. Our instructor-led outcome-based programs solve for both the challenges.

Industry is right now going through a technological disruption phase. Skilled talent is imperative to make use of the opportunity ahead of us. While young graduates are struggling to find jobs, employers are finding it hard to find the right talent. EdYoda is trying to bridge the gap forthe students and the Enterprises.

Is the company planning any major collaboration, if any name it.

We are aggressively partnering with a number of employers to connect our students to opportunities as soon as they graduate from the programs. We recently signed for a pilot for Episource, a company having its headquarters in the US and offshore offices in India. Some other discussions are also in advanced stages and we will share the details soon.
