Earthspired, a Mrida Group brand, has launched a range of healthy millet and amaranth cookies for an occasional healthy snack treat. The brand represents a Healthy, Wholesome and Straight from rural India business.

“Cookies can be made healthy with the right kind of ingredients and moderate sweetness to address not only your mid meal hunger, but also provide essential nutrients to nourish your body and mind in the process. Earthspired cookies provide complex carbohydrates with higher protein, dietary fibre and micronutrients and can be used as a healthy option to high calorie snacks,” says Iksha Chhabra, Business Head & Advisor (FMCG), Mrida.

These multigrain ‘snack bites’, specially formulated without wheat/refined flour have a judicious combination of millets and amaranth. Millets are known to have low glycemic index and have shown to produce lower blood sugar levels than wheat or rice. Consumption of millets provides more satiety and thus lower hunger pangs. Millets also hydrate the colon to keep constipation at bay.

Besides their health benefits, millets and amaranth are also more environment friendly. Being pest resistant crops, they do not require use of harmful chemicals and pesticides. They also consume significantly lower levels of water, thus optimizing use of this scarce resource.

Mrida sources grains directly from small and marginal farmers in remote rural India to provide them with sustainable livelihoods and market linkages – this assures Earthspired consumers a safe, healthy, tasty and responsibly sourced product.

Earthspired cookies are made with butter and not margarine. Butter is rich in fat-soluble vitamins: This includes vitamins A, E and K2. Studies have shown that margarine raises heart attack risk while natural butter does not.  Butter is a great source of Linoleic acid. This fatty acid has powerful effects on metabolism and has been shown to have anti-cancer properties apart from lowering body fat percentage in humans. A combination of complex carbohydrates, proteins and good fats make them suitable for kids.

Earthspired has 6 different types of cookies available in two ranges: Multigrain Healthy cookies and Multigrain Gluten Free cookies without soya. The Multigrain Healthy cookie range comprises Honey Almond Crunch, Coconut Crunch and Choco-chip Crunch, while the Multigrain Gluten Free category, comprises Amaranth Sweet Crunch, Coffee Crunch and Amaranth Sweet & Salty Crunch.

The 100 gram pack of cookies is available in the price range of Rs. 170 to Rs. 200 per pack.
