Hyderabad: Telecom major Tata Teleservices on Wednesday launched its own Mobile Device management (MDM) application for the Indian enterprise market.
According to Wikipedia, MDMs could be defined as an industry term for the administration of mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablet computers, laptops and desktop computers.
Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Tata Teleservices vice-president, operations, South & East India, Mr Avinash Gabriel said: “The high adoption rate of smartphones and with people trying to access corporate data from their smartphones has become a concern for companies.
“With not much security options for smartphones currently available, Tata Teleservices found it was the perfect opportunity to step in with their application-layer based MDM,” Mr Gabriel said.
He was however, quick to differentiate his product from Airtel and Vodafone, both of whom have tried their hand at the MDM market, which is estimated to reach $4.5 billion by 2020. “Both of them brought their product along with a partner, but Tata Teleservice would be bringing it completely under its own name. Moreover, the cloud-based application is quite customisable according to the need of the customer,” he said.
