Samsung opts for large screen phones

Hyderabad: Smartphone giants Samsung on Wednesday announced its plan to cater to the global trend of large-screen mobiles.

As per Samsung India’s Mohandeep Singh, globally, as well as in India, there is a trend for smartphones with screens larger than 5.5 inches and Samsung aims to cater to this consumer segment through its new products.

When quizzed about the market share, Mr Singh said that Samsung held a 46.9% market share last year and will look to further consolidate their position by catering to the users preferring larger screen with future models.

Speaking at the sidelines of the launch of Galaxy C9 Pro in Hyderabad, the mobile business vice-president, sales, said: “Samsung aims to carter to audience who prefer smartphones with a large display. In future, our models will have a screen size of 5.5 inches or more.”

The smartphone, which has a 6 inch display and 6 GB RAM, will be available in Feburary, is priced at Rs 36,900 but will have an offer for customers who will prebook their phones before January 27. The company promises to offer a one-time screen replacement to its phone.
