Riding on Patanjali wave, Ramdev strides into private security business
Mumbai: After the success of his brainchild Patanjali, Baba Ramdev is all set to venture into the country’s private security market with the mantra “parakram suraksha, aapki raksha”, meaning a powerful security ensures your safety.
According to a report in Economic Times, the founder of one of India's top home-grown FMCG brands, has launched his own private security company called Ramdev’s Parakram Suraksha Private Limited. He has been hiring retired army and police personnel to train new recruits as private security guards.
"Patanjali has sensitised people towards yoga, Ayurveda and Swadeshi (products). Our aim is to now inspire a sense of security among individuals and resolve to work towards the protection of our country," said Ramdev. The company plans to station units across India by the end of 2017.
Ramdev’s Parakram Suraksha Private Limited will offer its private security services to institutes, centres, corporate offices, individuals, shopping malls, etc. According to sources, the first batch of security guards have been training for the past one month at the Patanjali quarters in Haridwar. Hundred workers will be trained per month.
The private security sector has found a firm ground in India over the years. According to the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the sector is worth Rs 40,000 crore and is likely to hit revenue worth Rs 80,000 crore by 2020.
Patanjali Ayurveda was launched by the yoga guru in 2006. It has found enormous popularity among Indians and even foreigners. It 2016, its revenue touched Rs 10,561 crore.
