WhatsApp goes missing for few hours

The issue appears to be limited to Android, and not affecting iOS users.

Hyderabad: In a bizarre turn of events, Facebook-owned Whatsapp went missing from the Google Play Store for a few hours on Friday. However, the reason behind the sudden disappearance, which was first spotted by WABetaInfo, remains unclear.

Since then, the hugely popular messaging platform has returned to the Play Store. But, to the surprise of many, users, who had previously installed the app, could still spot the app in their ‘Previously installed app’ section on the Google Play Store. Moreover, users, mainly from UK and Netherlands, could also spot the sister app, Whatsapp for Business, during the sudden absence and the main app didn’t seem to have any issue.

The issue appears to be limited to Android, and not affecting iOS users. In the meantime, it seems that WhatsApp is also not available on third-party app stores, like Huawei’s AppGallery and Samsung’s Galaxy Store.
