Mumbai: Flyers across India are in for a treat as India’s popular air carriers like Indigo and Go Air are all set to slash fares across most routes in the run up to the July-August quarter.

Under IndiGo’s ‘All Time Low’ promotional sale, the budget airline is offering tickets starting from Rs 899 on select one-way routes. The two-day sale starting today is open till June 14 and applicable for travel between July 1 and September 30. “We are delighted to announce another 3-day Monsoon Special Offer. We are anticipating an increase in demand beyond summer vacations and are pleased to introduce special fares,” Sanjay Kumar, chief commercial officer, IndiGo, said in a statement.

The IndiGo offer will be applicable for non-stop flights from Agartala, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bagdogra, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Coimbatore, Dehradun, Delhi, Dibrugarh, Goa, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Imphal, Indore, Jaipur, Jammu, Kochi, Kolkata,Kozhikode, Lucknow,Madurai, Mangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Port Blair, Pune, Raipur, Ranchi, Srinagar, Thiruvananthapuram, Udaipur, Vadodara, Varanasi and Visakhapatnam.

GoAir has also come up with a similar offer on select routes, with prices starting as low as Rs 1,599. Last week, Jet Airways also announced a sale offering tickets at Rs1,111, applicable for travel between June 27 and September 20. “This special monsoon offer will allow Jet Airways guests to discover and experience select destinations across India. Guests can additionally enjoy the airline’s award-winning hospitality and service while availing significant savings on their travel with us,” said Jayaraj Shanmugam, chief commercial officer, Jet Airways.

The fares on popular routes like Delhi-Mumbai, which are currently selling at prices up to Rs 7,000 this week, are expected to go down to Rs 2,100 in July, reported Livemint. This is due to the lean July-August period which sees a fall in traffic because of monsoons and the ending of the summer holidays. According to data from Directorate General of Civil Aviation, growing competition among airlines to offer attractive fares to flyers has augmented the growth in air travel in India.
