Amazon added 5 lakh sellers for fesitvals

Amazon has widened its product selection, increased its inventory and created fulfilment centres.

Hyderabad: Defying the low consumer sentiment in the economy, Amazon India said it has witnessed more bullish sellers joining its marketplace while the existing sellers have added more inventory than last year.

“We have added around five lakh sellers during this festive season. The existing sellers are bullish about their sale prospects and have added 50 per cent more inventory than last year,” Mr Arun Sirdeshmukh, Business Head, Amazon Fashion India, told this newspaper.

There are 25000 new sellers in fashion segment alone, he added.

He said Amazon, in an attempt to make this festive season more memorable and enjoyable, has widened its product selection, increased its inventory and created fulfilment centres at strategic locations to deliver goods as quickly as possible to the customers.

Mr Sirdeshmukh was in Hyderabad as part of Amazon Festive Yatra, which travelled to 15 cities across India. As part of this yatra, Amazon would put together a house - albeit on wheels of three Tata Signa trucks - that will have all items sourced from Amazon sellers.

“We have studied tastes of people in each region and have created the ‘house-on-wheels’ using the products of their liking. The response to this yatra was great as brings the best of India together in one place,” Mr Sirdeshmukh explained.

He said the products used for the Amazon Festive Yatra are not only from big brands but also those from small and medium businesses, startups and artisans from every state in the country.
