Intel to back social startups
Hyderabad: Intel on Thursday said that they are looking to create a market environment for startups that enhances greater technological adoption in rural India. Urban India has shown a great knack to adopt new technologies but firms have faced difficulties to enter the rural market due to various challenges that range from low access, lower penetration of internet to higher costs.
Speaking after the announcement of Innovate for Digital India Challenge 2.0, Intel MD and VP sales and marketing, South Asia, Ms Debjani Ghosh said, “The adoption of technology in India is still very low. Intel’s aim is to create a sustainable environment for startups to focus on their ideas.”
She said next batch of technological adoption is likely to come from the rural India and the technology needs to adapt to the market needs. “The internet penetration is still quite low in the country, therefore, the technologies have to adapt to the challenges,” she said.
