Docomo drags Tata to US

Docomo has now sued Tata's in United States to claim $1.17 billion from the Indian behemoth.

New Delhi: Japanese telecom major NTT Docomo has opened a new front against Tata’s in the ongoing $1.17 billion dispute. Docomo has now sued Tata's in United States to claim $1.17 billion from the Indian behemoth.

This when Delhi High Court is already hearing the case whether Tata can pay $1.17 billion to Docomo. Docomo had earlier threatened Tata's that it will file case against it all over the world wherever it has business to get its money. “Docomo has taken a further step to enforce the London Court of Arbitration award against Tata by commencing action in the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York,” Docomo said.

“The decision of the London Court of Arbitration that Tata has breached its commercial agreement and owes Docomo $1.2 billion in damages is enforceable in any country which is a signatory to the New York Convention, including the US,” it said. There are more than 150 signatory states to the NY Convention.
