Sugar prices decline on higher supply

Ample stocks on persistent supplies from mills amid thin buying supported fall.

New Delhi: Sugar prices eased by Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale market in the national capital today following ample stocks on persistent supplies from mills amid thin buying.

Marketmen said relentless supplies from mills along with scattered offtake by stockists and bulk consumers, mainly kept pressure on sweetener prices. Sugar ready M-30 and S-30 prices slipped by Rs 20 each to end at Rs 3,930-4,000 and Rs 3,920-3,990 per quintal.

Mill delivery M-30 and S-30 prices also dropped by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,630-3,730 and Rs 3,620-3,720 per quintal. In the millgate section, Simbholi, Chandpur, Khatuli and Nazibabad fell by Rs 20 each to Rs 3,720, Rs 3,640, Rs 3,710 and Rs 3,640 per quintal.

Prices of Mawana, Kinnoni, Dorala and Dhampur also leaned down by Rs 15 each to Rs 3,670, Rs 3,730, Rs 3,675 and Rs 3,645 per quintal. Following are today's quotations (in Rs per quintal) Sugar retail markets - Rs 42.00-47.00 per kg.
