Mumbai: Reliance Jio, which has been viewed as the ‘disruptor’ in Indian telecom industry, has for the seventh consecutive time topped TRAI’s list of average data speed.

According to a report in IANS, the Mukesh Ambani-owned telecom operator clocked an average data speed of 18.331 mbps in July - the highest among all incumbent operators.

While Airtel hit a speed of 9.266 mbps, Idea Cellular clocked in 8.833 mbps and Vodafone India was at 9.325 mbps.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India collects and calculates download speed of operators with the help of its MySpeed application on a real-time basis.

Mukesh Ambani said Jio added 7 million customers per second and as of July 21 had 125 million customers.
