Hyderabad: In a development that will cement Telangana’s position as an automotive hub, the State will hold the ground breaking ceremony for the Telangana Mobility Valley next month, said industries minister KT Rama Rao.
Telangana conceptualised TMV with an aim of attracting Rs 50,000 crore investments over next five years. The State is setting up TMV to create best in class infrastructure to make Telangana as the most competitive destination for manufacturing, research and development in India. It aims to facilitate companies across all segments of sustainable mobility including electric 2W/3W/4W, advanced cell chemistry and Hydrogen fuel cells, tier 1 and 2 component manufacturers and auto engineering R&D companies. As part of this, the State is developing four Mega clusters - EV manufacturing cluster in Zaheerabad, EV manufacturing cluster in Seetharampur, energy storage system (ESS) cluster in Divitipally and Innovation cluster at Yenkathala. Each of the clusters will be equipped with infrastructure to reduce cost of operations for their tenant.
Rama Rao on Wednesday inaugurated Stellantis Digital Hub at the BSR Tech Park in Hyderabad on Wednesday. It has industrial operations in more than 30 countries and customers in more than 130 markets. The company is a global mobility leader with some iconic brands that include Jeep, Citroen, Maserati, Peugeot, Fiat etc.
Stellantis, the fourth largest automaker worldwide in terms of sales, has established its presence in Hyderabad since 2020. The company initially collaborated with Wipro through a BOT model and recently transitioned to their independent operations at the new office space. The Stellantis Digital Hub is spread over 75,000 square feet and has over 700 workstations. The headcount is projected to reach over 1,850 professionals within the next three years. It will provide capabilities in product development, IT services, and pioneering software technologies. Stellantis has established collaborations with institutions like IIIT Hyderabad, T-Hub and various startups and colleges in the State to promote innovation and talent development.
Rama Rao highlighted the thriving automotive ecosystem in Hyderabad, with companies like ZF, Bosch, Advance Auto Parts, and Fisker, among others. The city now boasts over 1,00,000 employees working in the mobility space, including those in IT services companies. Technological giants like Qualcomm, Micron, Intel, and Microsoft have also strengthened their mobility vertical in Hyderabad, he said.
“As cars increasingly become computers on wheels, Stellantis and other automotive companies recognise the significance of software talent in Hyderabad,” Rama Rao said.
