Comio eyes India unit by FY19 end
Hyderabad: China-based smartphone maker Comio plans to inaugurate its first manufacturing unit in India by the end of the financial year 2018-19, a top official said here on Monday.
“There are plans to open our own manufacturing unit here in India. We hope it will be possible to inaugurate it by the end of this year,” Comio Smartphones CEO and director Sanjay Kalirona said.
While the company is yet to finalise the location of the unit, both the Telugu-speaking states — Telangana and Andhra Pradesh — along with Uttar Pradesh and Haryana are in consideration.
The company, which only entered India in September 2017, has earmarked an investment to the tune of Rs 150 crore for the manufacturing unit wherein it would the company would assemble its phone.
