RIL shares jump nearly 4 per cent
New Delhi: Shares of Reliance Industries rose nearly four per cent on the bourses today amid its telecom venture seeing 72 million paid subscribers.
On the BSE, Reliance Industries climbed 3.94 per cent to settle at Rs 1,371.20 while on the NSE, the scrip ended the day with a gain of 3.96 per cent at Rs 1,373.25.
Last week, Reliance Jio had announced that it had signed up 72 million paid subscribers. Jio had launched the inaugural free voice and data plan in September last year, and in December, extended the freebies till March 31, 2017.
Meanwhile, shares of telecom majors Bharti Airtel and Idea Cellular fell as much as two per cent on the exchanges. Bharti Airtel dived 2.37 per cent to close at Rs 341.65 on the BSE while it slipped 2.30 per cent and settled at Rs 342 on the NSE.
The scrip of Idea Cellular declined fell by 0.88 per cent to end at Rs 84.95 on BSE. It settled 0.99 per cent down at Rs 85 on NSE.
