Sahara approaches SC to sell hotel, other properties to clear debts

The Sahara Group has also requested the SC to sell off its F1 Team, and four aircrafts.

NEW DELHI: The Sahara Group has informed the Supreme Court that it will sell its Grosvenor House hotel in London, for paying market regulator Sebi and freeing Sahara chief Subrata Roy from Tihar Jail.

That’s not all, as the Sahara group has also asked permission from the SC to sell off Hotel Sahara Star in Mumbai including two other properties in Bangalore.

Additionally, the group has also requested the Apex court to sell off its F1 Team, and four aircrafts.

According to reports, selling off the hotel will fetch approximately Rs 3,000 crore, which will be used to clear the earlier dues of the group.

Roy has been held in jail for close to two years, after Sahara failed to comply with a court order to refund money it had raised from millions of small investors by selling bonds that were later ruled to be illegal. He has been in jail since March 4, 2014.
