BYD Adds Entry-Level Sealion 7 Dynamic, Claims 520km Range to Boost Sales

“The strategic expansion is a direct response to the overwhelming customer interest in the existing BYD Sealion 7 variants,” said Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicle Business at BYD India.

Pune: BYD (Build Your Dreams), the Chinese electric car maker, on Thursday introduced a new entry-level variant of the Sealion 7 called the new Dynamic trim at an introductory price of Rs 41.90 lakh.

It replaces the premium as the base trim and is Rs 8 lakh more affordable.

“The strategic expansion is a direct response to the overwhelming customer interest in the existing BYD Sealion 7 variants,” said Rajeev Chauhan, Head of Electric Passenger Vehicle Business at BYD India.

The new Sealion 7 Dynamic variant will strengthen its position in India's premium EV segment by bringing BYD's advanced technologies, safety standards and sustainable mobility solutions within the reach of more customers, he noted.

Significantly, with the more affordable Dynamic trim, the Sealion 7 is now better positioned to take on the likes of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 (Rs 55.71 lakh), Kia EV6 (Rs 65.98 lakh) and BMW iX1 LWB (Rs 52.7 lakh).

The Sealion 7 Dynamic comes with a 71.8 kWh battery pack, instead of the 82.56 kWh unit available in the Premium and Performance variants. BYD claims a range of 520 km (NEDC) and a 0-100 km/h time of 7.3 seconds.

The Dynamic trim offers features such as a panoramic glass roof, a rotating touchscreen infotainment system, Intelligent Torque Adaptation Control, and an extensive array of safety and driver assistance tech.

BYD has also announced a festive offer under which Sealion 7 Dynamic customers will receive a complimentary 7 kWh home charger with installation.

The carmaker is also offering a 10-year roadside assistance coverage extension and a 10-year / 1.5 lakh km extended warranty on the battery.

With this launch, BYD's is trying to build a stronger presence in India's electric vehicle market. The company currently has 48 dealerships across 40 cities and is continuing to develop its sales and service network across the country.

The Sealion 7 has gained a customer base in India, with BYD reporting more than 2,300 units sold by the start of 2026. The new variant could help BYD reach more customers in India's growing premium EV market.
