British Norton Bikes Made in India to Debut Globally in July
Designed and engineered at Norton’s UK headquarters, the Atlas and Atlas GT bikes bring the marque into two of the fastest-growing segments in global motorcycling.

Pune: Owned by TVS Motor Company, Norton Motorcycles, the British marque brand, has commenced local production of its middleweight adventure-tourer bikes called the Atlas and Atlas GT, at the TVS Hosur facility near Bengaluru.
Designed and engineered at Norton’s UK headquarters, the Atlas and Atlas GT bikes bring the marque into two of the fastest-growing segments in global motorcycling.
“The Atlas officially launches globally next month and sales begin later in Q3,” the company said in a statement. Sales in India are likely to begin during the festive season around October-November.
“The first Atlas roll-out at Hosur brings together the best of both Norton and TVS Motor Company: British design and engineering capability with Indian manufacturing excellence,” said K. N. Radhakrishnan, director and CEO at TVS Motor Company.
Atlas takes Norton into a highly relevant global segment, and it does so as an unmistakable Norton, he noted.
The new Atlas and Atlas GT models combine modern technology with extensive use of aluminium components aimed at reducing weight and improving performance.
The launch marks another step in Norton’s revival under TVS ownership, with the company looking to expand its presence in the global motorcycle market.
The Atlas is positioned as an adventure-touring motorcycle with light off-road capability, while the Atlas GT is designed primarily for road use.
Although both models share the same platform, they differ in their suspension, wheels and tyre setup.
The bikes are powered by a 585-cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine featuring a 270-degree crankshaft, DOHC eight-valve cylinder head and ride-by-wire fuel injection. The engine produces 69 hp and 57.5 NM of peak torque.
The engine output places the Atlas range alongside motorcycles such as the Yamaha Tracer 7 and Kawasaki Versys 650.
