Mahindra Launches XEV 9S Electric Seven-Seater SUV

While bookings will open on January 14 2026, deliveries are slated for January 23, 2026

Bengaluru: Mahindra, the SUV specialist, is ramping up its production capacity to cater to the growing demand for its popular electric SUVs.
"With the demand rising for our EV SUVs, we are ramping up production of our electric vehicles, including the new seven-seater SUV" Rajesh Jejurikar, Executive Director & CEO of Mahindra & Mahindra, told Financial Chronicle.
He said the production capacity of its electric vehicles will be hiked to 8,000 units per month from April 2026 from the current 4,500 units at its Chakan factory near Pune.
"We are targeting 25 per cent of EV sales out of our total sales by FY27-28 from the present 8.7 per cent," he said.
Jejurikar said Mahindra has mitigated the range anxiety of buyers by providing a minimum average of 400 to 500 km range per single charge of its electric vehicles.
The company has sold a total of 30,000 electric cars in the first seven months of this year.
Apart from the existing models, such as BE 6, XUV 9e, Mahindra has now introduced a range of new models, such as BE 6 Formula E edition FE2 priced at Rs. 23.69 lakh and FE3 with add-on features at Rs. 24.49 lakh.
On Thursday, Mahindra launched India's big new electric seven-seater SUV called XEV 9S. The six variants of this model are priced between Rs. 19.95 lakh and Rs. 29.45 lakh for the top-end variant.
While bookings will open on January 14 2026, deliveries are slated for January 23, 2026.
The six Mahindra XEV 9S variants are equipped withfrom 59 kWH battery upto 79 kWH battery, offering claimed best-in-class power of 210 kW and 380 Nm of torque.
Nalinikanth Gollagunta, CEO, Automotive Division at Mahindra, and Executive Director of Mahindra Electric Automobile, said the company was expanding the EV segment, which is growing in India.
"Rs 20 lakh priced vehicle category sells about 70,000 units per month in India. We are confident that people in this group will upgrade to our EVs," he noted.
