BMW Sold Over 10 EVs Daily in 2025; To Electrify Car Market With 10 Major Product Offensives

Hardeep Singh Brar said this growth was three times more compared to 1,250 EVs sold in the previous year

Pune: BMW, the German luxury car maker, which sold over 10 electric cars every day in 2025, plans to introduce three more all-new electric cars this year to boost its leadership in the electric car segment in India.
“We sold more than 10 new BMW electric cars daily in India, to clock 3,753 EVs last year,” Hardeep Singh Brar, President and CEO, BMW Group India told FC.
He said this growth was three times more compared to 1,250 EVs sold in the previous year.
“To continue our market leadership in luxury EVs in India, we plan to introduce 10 major product offensives, including three brand new EVs, three internal combustion engine luxury cars, four new major updates and 17 refreshed luxury cars to boost sales in 2026,” Brar noted.
He said the BMW iX1 long-wheelbase SUV emerged as a key growth driver, clocking close to 3,000 units and lifting EV penetration to 21 per cent from about 8 per cent earlier. The monthly sales of iX1 were averaging around 300 units with a waiting period of nearly three months, he pointed out.
BMW, the luxury EV market leader, is followed by its compatriot archrival Mercedes-Benz and Swedish Volvo in the world’s third largest auto market.
“We are selling EVs faster because our EVs are on par with petrol and diesel cars while in the market they are 15-20 per cent costlier,” Brar said.
Also, the iX1 SUV has mitigated the range anxiety by offering 530 km per charge, the BMW assured buyback plan and overall reduced ownership cost has made it very popular, he said.
BMW India sold 18,001 cars in CY2025, clocking a 14 per cent on-year growth, its best ever year. The BMW brand sold 17,271 units while Mini contributed 730 units.
“With rising demand for our products, we are targeting a strong double-digit growth for 2026 with a minimum of 10 per cent,” Brar said.
