Hyundai rolls out 5 million vehicles in India

Hyundai has been consistently achieving a million mark in every two years.

Hyundai has announced that 5 million cars have rolled out of its Chennai-based facility on November 28, 2017, since commercial production began in 1998. Hyundai is India’s second largest passenger carmaker after its arch rival Maruti Suzuki but is way ahead of the Indian manufacturer when it comes to exports.

Its first car for the Indian market was the Santro, which was largely pitted against the popular Maruti Suzuki Zen, Fiat Uno and the Daewoo Matiz. The Santro stood the test of time, outperformed almost the entire segment and was on sale until 2015, for nearly 16 years. Recently, a mysterious Hyundai hatchback test mule has been spotted in the country, which is touted as the revival model of the Santro brand. Besides this new hatchback, Hyundai is expected to launch the mid-life refreshed/facelift model of the Elite i20 hatchback and the Creta compact SUV. While this year, we saw the introduction of the facelifted models of the Hyundai Grand i10 and Xcent along with the arrival of the all-new fifth-generation Hyundai Verna.

Hyundai’s sub-brand, Kia, is also planning to set up its shop in the Indian market from 2019. Check out its details here: Kia Motors To Enter India In 2019; Will Set Up Plant In Andhra Pradesh
