It is only available with a petrol-manual powertrain at launch and offered in four variants - RXE, RXL, RXT and RXZ. The AMT option will likely be introduced early next year, probably at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The AMT option was announced at the Triber’s unveil in June 2019 but it is now expected to come with the BS6 complaint version of the MPV. The BS6 Triber is expected to be launched ahead of the 1 April 2020 deadline.

Powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 72PS and 96Nm, the Triber is currently available with a 5-speed manual. We expect Renault to offer the AMT in the top-spec variant of the Triber and price it at a premium of around Rs 50,000 over the manual model.

The driver’s side section of the middle row slides on rails while the passenger side section has the tumble forward function for easier access to the rear. While the Triber has only one direct rival in the form of the Datsun GO+, its prices put it up against hatchbacks such as the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, Ford Figo and the Freestyle as well.
