Volkswagen eyes to double Its market share in 5 years
Hyderabad: German automaker Volkswagen (VW) aims to double its market share in the country to 3 per cent in 5 years , according to a top official here on Thursday.
“We have a market share of 1.5 per cent.... We plan to double it over the next 5 years,” said Steffen Knapp, director of VW passenger cars.
The company, which recently celebrated its 10th anniversary in India, said that over the next five years the company plans to raise its localisation to 90 per cent from the current level of 82 per cent.
When asked about the recent import duty hike, Mr Knapp said, “The company hasn’t made any changes to the prices.”
The company, along with its group firm Skoda, also has plans to launch 6 new vehicles in India over the next five years to help meet its localisation ambitions.
