Next-gen M5 Spied, to get 600hp!
The holy grail of super-saloons, the M5 is all set to get an update, alongside the standard 5-series sedan. A camouflaged mule of the new generation (Codename 'F90'), was spied recently that revealed details such as the headlights and the taillights.
On the design front, expect the M5 to look like a scaled up M2. The headlamps with squared out corona rings and the sharp lines running along the side profile make it look like a proper Beamer. Over to the rear, one can spot trademark BMW traits, such as the shark-fin antenna, quad exhausts and a subtle lip spoiler. Of what we can see of the taillamp, it does look identical to that on BMW's flagship saloon, the 7-Series.
Under all the camo, lies the same 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine from the F10 M5. However, reports suggest that the boffins at M Performance have tinkered with it to produce 600 horsepower. That's not all. The new M will be significantly lighter as well, thanks to extensive use of materials such as carbon-fibre and aluminium. For the first time, the M5 will feature an all-wheel-drive setup as well that does duty under the X5M and the X6M.
The new super-saloon is expected to debut in March 2017, at the Geneva Motor Show. Initial markets for the M5 will include Europe, USA and Canada. We expect BMW to bring the new M to Indian shores by late 2017 or early 2018. We cannot wait to get our hands on one!
