Here are 17 upcoming SUVs that are set to be launched or revealed in next 6 Months!

Think the Indian market is choc-a-bloc with SUVs? Well, it’s set to get flooded with some more real soon.

Diwali is here and if you haven’t made that auspicious car purchase yet, then we’d suggest that you wait just a little more. A flurry of new SUV launches and unveils are headed our way within the next six months. So we’ve compiled a list for your convenience.

Given that these SUVs will be launched around the time BS6 emission norms are implemented in the country (April 2020), they should all come with BS6-compliant engines! So not only are they going to offer newer features over their existing versions or rivals, but they will also conform to the emission norms as well. Let’s take a look.


2020 Hyundai Creta

Expected price: Rs 10 to 17 lakh

Expected launch: Feb/March 2020.

The Hyundai Creta has been on sale since 2015. But half a decade later, it has started to show signs of slowing down thanks to newer and modern rivals in its segment. Hyundai plans to curb that with a new generation model that’s based on the Kia Seltos. It is bound to bring a host of changes to the table. 

Tata Harrier 7-seater

Expected price: Rs 14 lakh to Rs 18 lakh 

Expected launch: Feb 2020

After showcasing it at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, Tata is expected to bring the three-row version of the Harrier early next year. The same is expected to debut a diesel-automatic powertrain as well. Naturally, expect the new powertrain to be offered in the 5-seater version as well. 


MG Hector 7-seater

Expected price: Rs 13.50 lakh to Rs 18 lakh

Expected launch: Feb 2020

Currently riding on the success of the Hector, MG Motor is set to bring a more accommodating three-row version of the SUV soon. Its feature list is expected to be similar to the Hector but the spy shots hint towards a captain seat layout for the cabin and subtle styling differences. This will be part of MG’s expansion plans, which includes the introduction of five new products apart from SUVs by the year 2020. 

MG ZS EV Electric Compact SUV 


Expected price: Rs 22 lakh

Expected launch: Early 2020

MG Motor will be introducing a rival to the Hyundai Kona EV next year in the form of the ZS EV with an unveil set for December 2019. It has already been spied testing and will pack a host of connected features, an air purifier, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, and more. Expect a claimed range of around 400km with fast charging capabilities as well.  

Tata Nexon EV Electric sub-compact SUV 

Expected price: Rs 15 lakh

Expected Launch: Feb 2020

Tata is set to kickstart its grand electrification plan with the Nexon EV which could deliver a range of 250-300km per charge. This will be one of four new electric cars that Tata plans to launch in the next 12 to 18 months. 


Mahindra Thar 2020

Expected price: Start at Rs 10 lakh

Expected Launch: Feb 2020

The Thar has been spied testing numerous times now. These sightings have revealed a modern design as well as new features such as alloy wheels, bench seats and a modern interior, among others. All that camouflage is expected to be shed come Auto Expo 2020. 

Kia Sub-4m SUV

Expected price: Start at Rs 7 lakh

Expected unveil: First half

If you liked the Hyundai Venue for its chic and contemporary styling, then you’ll love the upcoming sub-4m offering from Kia. It has been spied testing recently and is expected to feature similar engines and equipment as the Hyundai offering, albeit in Kia style. If the Kia Seltos is anything to go by, then count us interested. 


Skoda Kamiq

Expected price: Start at Rs 10 lakh

Unveil: Auto Expo 2020

Skoda is set to join the compact SUV party and try to spoil it for the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Kia Seltos with the launch of the Kamiq. This heavily localised SUV is expected to bring versatility, loads of features and Skoda’s new design language to India. 

VW T-Cross

Expected price: Start at Rs 10 lakh

Unveil: Auto Expo 2020

Accompanying the Skoda Kamiq will be its VW sibling, the T-Cross. This VW will share its MQB A0 platform, features and powertrains with the Skoda but will have its own styling. Feature highlights include LED headlamps with dynamic indicators, sizeable digital instrument clusters, and touchscreen infotainment system, among others. 


Maruti Vitara Brezza and S-Cross Petrol

Expected price: Start at less than Rs 8 lakh

Expected launch: Auto Expo 2020

The two diesel-only Maruti cars will have to shift to petrol power for making it past the BS6 emissions threshold. The 1.3-litre unit will  give way for BS6-compliant 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine that powers the Ertiga and Ciaz. With the introduction of the 1.5-litre petrol engine, we could see expect to see automatic versions of these two cars as well. 

Skoda Karoq

Expected price: Rs 20 lakh


Expected launch: Feb 2020

Skoda has grand plans for the Indian market under its ‘India 2.0’ business plan. After launching the Kamiq to take on the Hyundai Creta, it will have the Jeep Compass and Hyundai Tucson in its crosshairs with the launch of the Karoq. This SUV will sit below the Kodiaq and promises to offer a premium experience in a space dominated by the Jeep Compass. 

Hyundai Tucson facelift

Expected price: Rs 18 lakh to Rs 26 lakh

Expected launch: Early 2020

The Tucson hasn’t had a good sales run in the past and Hyundai plans to change that with a facelift. It’ll get a full LED headlamp setup, bigger alloy wheels and better interior. The 2.0-litre petrol and diesel engine options are expected to be carried forward. 


Tata H2X (Hornbill) 

Expected price: Start at Rs 5 lakh

Expected unveil: Auto Expo 2020

Based on the ALFA-ARC platform, the new micro SUV from Tata will not only get internal combustion engines but could also get an electric powertrain as well. Expect more details to pour in at the Auto Expo.

Mahindra XUV300 EV 

Expected price: Rs 15 lakh

Expected unveil: Auto Expo 2020

An electrified version of the XUV300 sub-compact SUV is underway with launch expected in mid-2020. But expect to have your first look at it at the 2020 Auto Expo. 


Renault HBC Sub-4m SUV

Expected price: Start at Rs 6.5 lakh

Expected launch/unveil: Auto Expo 2020

Renault will be introducing the HBC compact SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo. It will be based on the same CMF-A platform as the Triber.

Great Wall Haval H9

Expected price: 

Expected unveil: Auto Expo 2020 

A new Chinese manufacturer called Great Wall has its eyes set on the Indian market and it is already on its way to acquiring a manufacturing facility in Sanand, Gujarat. Its first vehicle for India could be the Haval H9, which is likely to be an alternative to the Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and others in the segment.
