Expect Datsun GO Cross launch next year

The Datsun GO Cross already was a 5-seater, when showcased as a concept, unlike the GO+ MPV, which is a 7-seater.

Datsun GO Cross, the crossover, had been showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo earlier this year, as a concept. The response received by the crossover has led Nissan to swiftly work on the concept to make the crossover production ready.

Earlier, it was scheduled for a late 2017 launch, as Nissan put it, during the Auto Expo this year. Now, the Japanese "car maker seems to have fast forwarded the launch of the crossover. So, the launch is expected to be somewhere in 2017, instead of the late 2017 launch as planned earlier.

The Datsun GO Cross already was a 5-seater, when showcased as a concept, unlike the GO+ MPV, which is a 7-seater. The new crossover has the potential to become the flagship model for the Nissan.

The Datsun GO Cross sports an aggressive front face with an aggressive yet stylish hexagonal grille, fog lamps placed close to the headlamps with LED, skid plate over the bumper, etc. The spoiler goes to the top on the roof, which also gets the roof rails. The alloy wheels are also distinctly large. The crossover will also get the best-in-class ground clearance. The interiors will sport a reworked cabin, new dashboards, etc. while coming along as a 5-seater.

The Datsun will likely be powered by the 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, petrol engine that will make 67 bhp of power at 5,000 rpm and 104 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. The other 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder TDCi diesel mill will deliver 63 bhp of power at 4,000 rpm and 160 Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm. Both these engines will get mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard.

The Datsun GO Crossover has already raised some expectations, ever since its debut as a concept and Nissan’s speeding up the launch will likely make it a high-volume seller for Nissan.
