Hyundai to increase Creta's production by 25 per Cent

Hyundai has thus decided to ramp-up production by up to 25 per cent for its bestselling SUV in the coming months.

The Hyundai Creta has turned out to be a blockbuster. In spite of good competition from the Maruti Suzuki Brezza and Ford EcoSport, its demand is on a rise and the automaker is unable to keep up with the production. And with the festive season just around the corner, the demand will further increase. Keeping these factors in mind Hyundai is increasing the production of its best-selling SUV by 25 per cent. The Korean automaker announced this during the launch of the Elantra on Tuesday.

Hyundai has thus decided to ramp-up production by up to 25 per cent for its bestselling SUV in the coming months. This announcement was made by the Chennai-based automaker during the launch of its Elantra sedan on Tuesday. “Good monsoons this year are set to help drive more sales in this festive season,” it said.

After the last increase in production around April earlier this year, close to 13,000 units of the Creta are being hot baked currently. The booking period, though, still stands between one and two months, with Hyundai racing against the clock to meet the rising demand for the car.

The Hyundai Creta stood at number 11 in the list of the highest selling cars for the month of July this year. It sold 7,981 units last month – an 18 per cent YoY growth from July 2015. Crossing the 7,500-mark for the sixth consecutive month, the car also helped Hyundai register a 13 per cent growth, with a total of 41,201 units.

Hyundai also plans to export the Creta – also known as the ix25 – to no less than 92 countries. Currently, the India-made Hyundai Creta is shipped out to around 45 countries, including African and Latin American markets.
