Honda teases WR-V compact SUV in digital sketch
India’s SUV market is always ripe and so launch of SUVs are commonplace almost every week. Besides the world market has also been showing huge interests in SUVs, while it used to be only sedans in the international markets.
So Honda comes up with the Honda WR-V compact SUV, which the Japanese carmaker has teased for the first time with a digital sketch. The WR-V will also make its debut at the Sao Paulo International Motor Show in Brazil between November 10 and 20, 2016.
Upon launch, it will find the Maruti i Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300, etc. as rivals, in India. Based on the Honda Jazz, the Compact SUV seems to make things quite compact, cute and well-built from the sketches.
The bumper, fog lamps, headlights and the typical Honda chrome-accent over the front-grille look picturesque. Also seen are five-petalled alloy wheels, smart-looking bumper and larger air intakes in its front profile. The side profile maintains aspects similar to the Honda Jazz but get the all-side cladding that only the WR-V gets.
The compact SUV will also be powered by the same powertrains that power the Honda Jazz. The Honda WR-V will come powered by the 1.2-litre petrol engine developing 90 PS of peak power and the 1.5-litre diesel motor delivering 100 PS.
Expect the interiors to get a rejig, which is not revealed in the tease sketch. It will be quite interesting to see if the WR-V with all its muscle looks better than in its digital rendering. This will be known when it will debut at the Sao Paulo International Motor Show in Brazil. The WR-V stands for “Winsome Runabout Vehicle”. The Compact SUV is expected to cost a slight premium over the Jazz.
