Isuzu to launch MU-X SUV by the end of 2016
Isuzu plans to launch its MU-X SUV in India by the end of this year. It is expected that the upcoming MU-X will replace the current MU-7 SUV of Isuzu. MU-7 which was launched in the year 2012 has been replaced by MU-X in most of the markets due to its lacking performance compared to its rivals.
Isuzu MU-X has been built on the same platform of the Trailblazer SUV of Chevrolet. MU-X looks almost similar to Trailblazer in the side and rear view and gets most of its design cues from the Trailblazer. The interior of the car is also exactly the same as the Chevy Trailblazer. MU-X features a twin-slat grille in chrome, 8-inch touch screen system, cruise control, automatic climate control, muscular front bumper, projector headlamps, LED Daytime Running Lights, emergency brake assist, hill start assist, etc.,
Powering the SUV in India will be the same 3.0-litre CRDi diesel engine of MU-7 which churns out a peak power of 161bhp and peak torque of 360Nm. Transmission will be offered via a 5-speed Manual and an Automatic gearbox. The ARAI rated fuel efficiency claimed by the company is 12.08kmpl.
The Indian-spec MU-X will be measuring 4825mm in terms of length, 1860mm in width and 1840mm in terms of height. The wheelbase and ground clearance of the car will be 2845mm and 230mm respectively. After its launch, the MU-X of Isuzu will take on the likes of Ford Endeavour and Toyota Fortuner.
