The Kia Seltos has been revealed to be a stylish, well-equipped compact SUV with a fresh set of Hyundai-Kia engines and transmission options. While further details and variants will be announced later, Kia is planning to open bookings for the Seltos sometime around mid-July 2019.
Kia will be bringing the Seltos to dealerships around the same time bookings commence. Kia aims to have 265 touchpoints spread across 160 cities by the time of launch. The brand plans to increase the number of touchpoints to 300 by 2020 and to 350 by 2021, covering more areas in the process.
The upcoming Seltos SUV will be available with three new BS6 engines and a variety of transmission options. These engines will be a pair of 1.5-litre petrol and diesel units and a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Each of these will get a different type of automatic gearbox. The 1.5-litre petrol will get a CVT, the 1.5-litre diesel a 6-speed torque convertor automatic and the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. A 6-speed manual gearbox will also be offered on select engines.
Apart from the dealerships, Kia will also begin online sales from day one of the launch. Kia is expected to price the new Seltos between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 16 lakh. Once launched it will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Maruti S-Cross, Nissan Kicks, Renault Captur and Duster.
