Suzuki Extrigger Expected To Be Launched In 2017

Suzuki has applied for patents in few countries giving rise to speculation that electric powered mini-bike will hit production in 2017.

Suzuki’s application for patents in few countries give hints that production of the Extrigger will commence in 2017 When Honda first introduced the Grom in 2013, its rivals expected it to fail. Surprisingly, the Grom went on to be a sales success, especially in Southeast Asia. Kawasaki countered with the Z125 Pro, while Suzuki showcased its intent to rival the Grom with the Extrigger concept. Showcased at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show, the quirky moto-scooter couldn’t make it to production.

But it seems that Suzuki plans to revive the Extrigger project and get the bike into production as it has applied for patents in the China, Europe, and the United States for the tiny electric machine. What makes the new mini-bike from Suzuki stand apart from its rival is the fact that it has an electric heart which makes it a great option for urban commuting. The concept bike had a 0.58kWh battery which was good enough for a 32km range on full charge and top speed of around 30kmph. But we expect the production spec model to fare much better. The Suzuki Extrigger is expected to be launched by early 2017 in international markets.
