JW Speakers offers adaptive headlamps for bikes
Adaptive headlamps are quite helpful while driving through twisty roads at night. Though they have been offered in cars for a long time, this is the first time such headlamps have been made available for bikes, although as an aftermarket fitment.
The JW Speaker Adaptive Series are the adaptive motorcycle headlamps designed to address poor visibility while cornering. The Adaptive Series is currently available in two sizes: a 7 round and a 5.75 round staped unit. A shortcoming of traditional motorcycle headlamps has been the focussed light beam which used to leave a dark void to the left or right of the motorcycle while cornering. The new adaptive headlights have an integrated optical system that includes both an adaptive low beam as well as high beam. These optics together provide best-in-class foreground illumination that considerably improves visibility and safety for night-time driving.
The new adaptive headlamps use on-board sensors and advanced electronics to calculate leam angles on a real-time basis, automatically directing the light array up or down as the motorcycle leans. This additional illumination fills the gaps that your stock headlight can’t when cornering at night. This adaptive headlight intelligently “tunes” low beam and banking optics in a way that maximizes visibility in corners.
The headlamps might be an aftermarket fitment for now but we expect manufacturers to adopt this technology in the future. We already see manufacturers using LED lighting on their bikes so the future of adaptive lighting might not be that far off.
