Ford EcoSport Facelift Leaked with New Interiors
Launched globally in 2013, the Ford EcoSport is due for a mid-life update. The American automaker has been testing the EcoSport facelift for a while now. Recently, the dashboard of the updated version was spied in China and it appears to be a completely revamped one. As per several reports, new cabin is a China-specific model, but only time will tell whether the speculations are true. It is expected to go on sale next year. However, Ford might reveal it at one of the motor shows later this year.
Interiors
The new dash looks premium and mainstream as opposed to the current offbeat one. The extremities of the dash were retained, but the central console, instrument cluster, automatic climate control unit and steering wheel have been redesigned. Unlike before, the instrument cluster features large dials and houses a multi-information screen at the centre.
The new steering wheel is slightly larger and more premium. The current steering in the Ecosport is the same one as the one deployed in the Figo and the Aspire. The central console protrudes out of the dash. It will come equipped with the latest touchscreen-based Ford SYNC infotainment unit, which is also expected with the facelifted EcoSport. Unlike the current central AC louvers, which are flanking the audio unit, they will be placed under the audio unit in the new edition.
The steering wheel and instrument cluster are the same as seen in this new leaked image. We believe that the spied interiors will make their way over to
Like many Ford facelifts, the front will be thoroughly redesigned. One can easily make out the new grille from the camouflaged test mule, and it is similar to the global SUVs such as the Kuga and the Edge (see the image below).
The new grille will be flanked by headlamps. Expect projectors with LED daytime running lights. The side repeaters have been shifted to the bumper, much like in the Brezza. Besides its new face, the rest will mostly remain intact, including the rear-mounted spare wheel. Expect new alloys and subtle changes to the tail lights.
Mechanicals
This is one of the strongest suits of the EcoSport. Globally and in India, it comes with powerful and renowned engines such as the 1.0-litre EcoBoost. The compact SUV recently got an uprated 1.5-litre diesel, which now musters 100 PS and will continue in the same state of tune with the facelift. The 1.5-litre Ti-VCT naturally aspirated petrol will also remain same, mated to a 6-speed dual-clutch auto and 5-speed manual transmissions.
