PUNE: BMW Motorrad India on Tuesday introduced the BMW R nineT 100 Years and the BMW R 18 100 Years limited edition motorcycles in India to celebrate its 100-year history. The bikes are priced at Rs 24 lakh and Rs 25.90 at pan India showroom, respectively.
The first BMW motorcycle, the R 32, was presented in September 1923 and keeping with the momentous year for the brand, both models are limited to 1923 units each.
The BMW R nineT 100 Years is a roadster motorcycle that is powered by an air-cooled 1,170cc flat-twin engine that pushes out 107.2bhp and 100.7Nm of peak torque. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
The BMW R 18 100 Years, on the other hand, is a cruiser motorcycle that is fitted with the largest engine ever fitted to a BMW Motorrad motorcycle.
The R 18 draws power from a 1,802cc air cooler, flat-twin engine that produces 89.8bhp and a chunky 158Nm of peak torque. The large flat-twin engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
Both the R nineT and R18 100 Years models get quite a few cosmetic upgrades that help differentiate them from the regular versions of these motorcycles. These include special liveries and parts from BMW's Option 719 customization setup.
