22,000 Tata Tiagos booked; 10,000 produced

The new Tata car is powered by a 1.05-litre 3-cylinder Revotorq diesel engine and a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder VCTi Revotron petrol mill.

Tata's new design strategy may not have garnered the ideal response for the Bolt and Zest. but it looks like that may change with the Tiago. The car's combination of clean styling, well-equipped interiors and efficient engines has seen it rack up 22,000 bookings. 85 per cent of the orders are for the petrol variants and Tata's plant in Sanand (Gujarat) has produced 10,000 units of the model and counting.

After the Nano, the Tiago is the second Tata car to achieve the feet of 10,000 sales within the first two months of its launch. A complete departure from the previous Tata products, the Tiago is a fresh offering that boasts plenty of creature comforts, and some are segment firsts! To name a few -- an 8-speaker sound system developed by Harman, Multi-drive modes and Smart phone based TBT navigation.

Launched in April this year, the new Tata car is powered by a 1.05-litre 3-cylinder Revotorq diesel engine and a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder VCTi Revotron petrol mill. The former pumps out 70PS of power and 140Nm of torque while the latter belts out 85PS of max power and 114Nm of torque.

It’s a moment of utter delight for the company as its hard work has finally paid off. Whether it’s the design, cabin refinement, plastic quality, safety or the ride quality, the Tata Tiago ticks all the right boxes.
