Tata Bolt sales to be restricted, to be available only as fleet vehicles, say sources

Reports had earlier claimed that the domestic carmaker has lost its faith in the Bolt, which has only managed a dismal 17,000 units.

The Tata Bolt made its debut at the 2014 Auto Expo, and within a span of 12 months, it was launched in the market. The Indica Vista successor from Tata Motors has been having a tough time, and recent reports claim that the vehicle might go out of production. However, contradicting the reports, sources close to the matter informed us that the automaker would continue to manufacture the car, though the sales could be restricted to transport and cab companies.

Reports had earlier claimed that the domestic carmaker has lost its faith in the Bolt, which has only managed a dismal 17,000 units till date. Despite being loaded with a number of features, including safety elements, the car could not compete with its segment leaders like the Maruti Suzuki Swift and Hyundai Elite i20.

The homegrown automaker is said to concentrate its resources and efforts on the better selling Tiago hatchback that has garnered more than 30,000 orders up till August, since its launch in April. The car breached the 5,000 units sales mark in July and helped Tata Motors register a remarkable 43 per cent growth in the month.
