2019 Ford Figo variants explained: Ambiente, Titanium, Titanium Blu

The updated Figo is available in 3 variants in both petrol and diesel engine options.
  • The Figo’s prices range between Rs 5.15 lakh and Rs 8.09 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

  • Petrol-automatic drivetrain only comes in the Titanium variant.

  • Top-spec Titanium Blu variant looks sportier than other variants, gets dual-tone exteriors and blue accents on the inside.

  • Top variant is our choice.

Ford has launched the 2019 Figo at prices lower than its outgoing version. It now starts at Rs 5.15 lakh and goes till Rs 8.09 lakh (ex-showroom India). It is available with two new, more powerful petrol engines along with the earlier 1.5-litre diesel engine. Ford has updated the variant count and instead of the earlier six, it receives just three variants: Ambiente, Titanium and Titanium Blu. But which variant suits your budget and requirements the best? We answer.

First, let’s take a look at the colour options on offer:

  • Ruby Red (Available from Titanium onwards)

  • Moondust Silver

  • Deep Impact Blue

  • Absolute Black

Convenience: Front power windows with one-touch down function for driver unit, manual AC, passenger vanity mirror, tilt steering adjust, 12V power socket and electric boot release.

Should you buy one?

The base Ambiente variant might cover a decent base in terms of features but it feels built to a cost with black door handles and ORVMs, no audio system and missing rear power windows and parcel tray. Since this variant gets all the basic safety features, you can go for this if you want a Figo only and can’t stretch your budget for the next variant, which we do accept is quite a lot. If you plan to go with the base Ambiente variant, you will have to spend a little extra for the audio system, which is a basic need these days. Ford Figo 2019

Should you buy one?

With a Rs 1.24 lakh price extension, the Titanium variant gets a healthy dose of extra features added to its kitty. It looks upmarket on the out and well equipped on the inside for a car of its price.

Those eyeing the automatic Figo only have this variant option with a few extra safety features. It commands a premium of Rs 1.70 lakh over the 1.2MT (96PS/120Nm) petrol Figo, which in our opinion is a bit too steep. You do get a bigger 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder engine which churns out 123PS/150Nm but the transmission is a relatively basic torque converter instead of the dual clutch transmission on the outgoing Figo.

We want to suggest this variant but the incremental price is a little too high for the extra features you get. If you have already made up your mind to stretch your budget by this much, then we will suggest you to spend an extra Rs 55,000 and go for the top Titanium Blu variant instead. This increase would not really affect your EMIs much but will prove its worth in the long run.

Exterior: Glossy black front grille and ORVMs, blue fog lamp bezels, gloss black 15-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 195/55 section tyres, decals and dual tone roof.

Interiors: Blue stitching on the seats and accents on doors, leather steering wheel.

Convenience: Rain sensing wipers and auto headlamps.

Safety: Side and curtain airbags.

Should you buy one?

The Titanium Blu variant not only brings the bragging rights of the a variant along with upmarket looks but also added safety. For an additional Rs 55,000 you get four extra airbags, convenience and premium bits and the incremental price is justified. This is the variant of our choice for the Figo.
