What should you do if you have around Rs 2 crore lying in your bank account and already have more than enough property to your name? Well here's one way to spend it, buy the AMG G 63 ‘Edition 463'. Mercedes-Benz has launched the AMG G 63 ‘Edition 463’ in India at a price of Rs 2.17 crore (ex-showroom Pune). The German automaker also launched the Mercedes-AMG GLS 63.

Before we go any further, it’s important to clarify that the ‘463’ label has nothing to do with the SUV’s power output. The number denotes Mercedes’ internal model code for the G-Class (W463). The old-school SUV is powered by a 5.5-litre petrol V8 engine that makes 571PS of power (over 20PS more than before) and 760Nm of torque. Using the AMG Speedshift Plus 7-speed automatic gearbox, the G 63 goes from 0-100kmph in 5.4 seconds, before hitting an electronically-limited top speed of 210kmph. Impressive, when you consider it weighs more than 2.5 tons and is as aerodynamic as a building. That power can also be used to tow something that weighs up to 3.5 tons!

On the outside, the Edition 463 sports a stainless steel underbody guard, 21-inch matte black alloy wheels and AMG sports strips. The rest of the SUV looks no different than before, leaving the stubbornly boxy design untouched. Inside, the single-tone dashboard is draped in black designo leather, while the seats can be finished in black or brown designo leather with black carbon leather side bolsters. Parts like the dashboard top-stitching, door handles, armrest and handbrake are colour coordinated with the selected seat colour. There’s even some AMG carbon-fibre trim inside to add a sporty touch.

Like before the G 63 will find its way into the garages of a select few individuals and will only be offered as a direct import. It could also make for a great collector’s item, since the new-gen G-Class is set to be revealed next year. With the latest launches, Mercedes-Benz offers nine AMG models in India.
