Will go on sale by April 2020.
  • BS6 emission norms will kick in in April 2020.
  • Test mule features a BS6 sticker on the fuel filler cap.
  • Powered by either a petrol or a diesel engine.
  • The XUV300 currently gets a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre BS4 diesel engine.
  • Both petrol and diesel engines are expected to be available in the BS6 era.

With the BS6 deadline approaching, carmakers are working towards making their offerings BS6-compliant. Mahindra is no different. Recently, the XUV300 was spied with a BS6 engine under its hood. Although the car looked similar to its BS4 counterpart, it featured a BS6 sticker on the fuel filler cap, revealing its identity.

While we know for sure that the test mule was powered by a BS6 engine, we an’t say if it was a diesel or a petrol engine. The XUV300 is available with a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel engine, both of which will be updated to BS6. Where the petrol unit makes 110PS of power and 200Nm of torque, the diesel unit is good for 115PS and 300Nm. Both the engines are mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

As far as features are concerned, no changes are expected on this front since the XUV300 is already amongst the most well equipped cars in its class. It gets various segment-first features like 7 airbags, rear disc brakes, dual zone AC and multiple steering modes.

. In terms of pricing, the BS6 XUV300 will be priced at a premium over the current car. Where the petrol SUV is likely to see a price hike of around Rs 20,000, the diesel XUV300 is expected to get dearer by around 1 lakh. Here are the current prices of the XUV300.
