2019 Ford Figo facelift vs Maruti Swift vs Hyundai Grand i10: Spec comparison
With the 2019 Ford Figo set to go on sale on March 15, Ford India has revealed details of the updated hatchback. The 2019 Figo features quite a few changes to the exterior, an updated feature list as well as a new set of petrol engines. But are the changes enough for it to make a mark in the segment? Let’s find out.

The Figo is the longest car in its segment. It also has the longest wheelbase here. However, when it comes to width and height, the Swift takes the lead. The Hyundai Grand i10 is the smallest car here in all dimensions.
Engines:
All three cars here are available with both petrol and diesel engine options. However, while the Figo is available with two petrol options, the other cars are only available with a single petrol engine.
As far transmission options are concerned, petrol versions of all cars get both manual and automatic transmission options. However, only the Swift can be had with an automatic (AMT) transmission as far as diesel versions are concerned.

All three cars here are powered by a similar capacity engine but the Figo’s 1.2-litre unit is the most powerful of the lot. It also has the highest torque output. The other two cars have identical power and torque figures.
As far as the transmission is concerned, all the cars are available with a 5-speed MT as standard. These hatchbacks can also be had with an automatic gearbox. While the Swift comes with an AMT, the other two get a torque converter unit.
In the Swift and the Grand i10, the automatic gearbox is available with the same 1.2-litre engine as their respective manual counterpart. In the Figo, however, it can only be had with the bigger 1.5-litre unit.
In terms of fuel economy, the Swift leads the race followed by the Figo and the Grand i10. Among automatics, the Swift continues to be the leader, while the Grand i10 takes the second spot.

The Figo continues to be most powerful car here as well while the other two cars have identical power and torque figures. Here too, the Swift is the most frugal car followed by the Figo and the Grand i10, respectively. As far as transmission options are concerned, where the Figo and the Grand i10 are only available with a 5-speed MT, the Swift is available with a 5-speed AMT as well.
Features:
Safety: All three cars are equipped with dual front airbags and ABS with EBD standard. The Figo and the Swift also get rear parking sensors as standard. In the Grand i10, this feature is limited to the higher variants Where the Figo is the only car here to offer side and curtain airbags (only in the top-spec Titanium Blu), the Swift is the only one to offer ISOFIX child seat anchors (standard).
Infotainment: The higher variants of all three hatchbacks get a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. However, only the Swift and the Grand i10 come with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. The Figo only gets navigation and Bluetooth functionality.
Comfort and Convenience: All the cars here are equipped with features such as electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, push button start, power steering, all four power windows, auto climate control, adjustable front and rear headrest and manual day/night IRVM. The Swift also gets auto headlamps like the Figo but misses out on rain-sensing wipers. The Maruti hatchback gets LED projector headlamps, which is a segment-first feature.
Verdict: Ford certainly has a winner at its hands with the 2019 Figo facelift. It is not only one of most equipped car here but also packs the most grunt under the bonnet. However, its success will depend heavily on its price tag.
