Ford is set to launch the 2019 Figo facelift in India today. It will be available in three variants - Ambiente, Titanium and Titanium Blu - and is expected to be priced from Rs 4.99 lakh to Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Now that we’ve received all the details as well as seen the images of the refreshed hatchback, let’s take a look at what it has to offer.
The 2019 Figo features subtle cosmetic updates, including reworked front and rear bumpers, updated headlamps and a mesh grille like the one seen on the Aspire facelift. On the inside, the 2019 Figo gets a new dashboard that is similar to that of the Aspire and the Freestyle. However, the Figo gets an all-black finish whereas the Aspire gets a beige treatment and the Freestyle gets a dual-tone black-and-brown cabin.
The most significant update on the Figo facelift is under the bonnet. It gets a new set of petrol engines. The old 1.2-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine has been replaced by the Freestyle’s new 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder unit. It produces 96PS of power and 120Nm of torque (up by 8PS and 8Nm). The petrol-automatic version has ditched the older 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder motor and now features the 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder unit that powers the EcoSport. It produces 123PS and 150Nm (up by 11PS and 14Nm). The 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine, on the other hand, has been carried forward as is. It churns out 100PS and 215Nm.
The 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines are offered with a 5-speed manual gearbox while the 1.5-litre petrol unit is only available with a 6-speed torque convertor. It replaces the 6-speed dual clutch automatic seen on the pre-facelift Figo.
As far as features are concerned, the new Figo is better equipped than before. It gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and seatbelt reminder for front passengers as standard. It also gets side and curtain airbags (segment-first), but they are limited to the top-spec Titanium Blu variant. The Titanium automatic variant gets some exclusive features like traction control (TC), hill launch assist (HLA) and electronic stability program (ESP).
Comfort and convenience features on offer include auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, electrically adjustable and foldable ORVMs, keyless entry, push button start, auto AC and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Bluetooth and navigation.
Ford is expected to price the 2019 Figo facelift from Rs 4.99 lakh to Rs 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). At this price, it will undercut the pre-facelift Figo, which was priced from Rs 5.82 lakh to Rs 8.46 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). When launched later today, it will renew its rivalry with the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Hyundai Grand i10.
