BMW 3 Series GT launch likely on October 19

The current 3-Series draws power from a 2.0-litre diesel mill, which makes 188 bhp of peak power and 400 Nm of peak torque.

After releasing images of the 3-Series GT facelift, earlier in the year, reports say that BMW has scheduled the India launch of the facelift on October 19, 2016. The 3-Series also had its international debut at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

While it is reported that the launch is scheduled in a week from now, what powertrains will power the 3-Series GT facelift is still unclear. The facelift, however, will have plenty of cosmetic and visual enhancements, along with changes in equipment and features.

Keeping with the current trends, the BMW 3-Series GT facelift will get a bold front fascia. It will get a well-sculpted and carved out air dam, fog lamp provisions and typical BMW front-grille with some design changes.

With large alloy wheels, it gets a sleek, smooth and stylish side profile. Also in the rear, it gets some modern styling with an attractive bootlid, sporty black-cladded rear bumper and angular C-pillar. The BMW 3-Series GT facelift also gets adaptive LED headlights, LED fog lamps and LED tail lights.

The current 3-Series draws power from a 2.0-litre diesel mill, which makes 188 bhp of peak power and 400 Nm of peak torque. Transmission of the power to the rear wheels is done by an 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission.

Globally, the 3-Series GT gets powered by about 18 engine and transmission options. However, no information has been revealed yet on what the India-spec facelift model will be powered by.

While diesel engines will more likely be on offer, petrol powertrains are also expected, as BMW is sure aware of the recent customer preference for petrol engines in India.
