Jaguar to launch F-Pace In India In October
Luxury carmaker Jaguar is aiming to conclude the calendar year on a high note, with the company poised to launch two new models back to back in the Indian market next month. Earlier, we got you the information that JLR will launch the updated XF in the first week of October; and now, as per our sources, the F-Pace will be launched in the country in the same month. It is quite possible that the British car manufacturer might launch both the cars simultaneously, but we expect the F-Pace's launch to take place in the third week of October.
Jaguar’s first SUV has already been listed on the automaker’s Indian website for a while now, with the SUV itself showcased at this year’s Auto Expo. While many luxury car manufacturers are scrambling to offer petrol powerplants, as per the website, it looks like the India-spec F-Pace will only be available with two diesel engines, at least initially.
The entry-level ‘Pure’ and ‘Prestige’ variants will be offered with a 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder engine that makes 180PS of power and 430Nm of torque. Paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox, this engine drives the F-Pace from 0-100kmph in 8.7 seconds, with a claimed top speed of 208kmph. Jump up to the ‘R-Sport’ and you get the full-fat 3.0-litre, 6-cylinder diesel that makes 300PS of power and 700Nm of torque – enough to make the SUV complete the 0-100kmph sprint in 6.2 seconds before it hits its top speed of 241kmph. Like the other variants, the R-Sport gets an 8-speed autobox and all-wheel drive.
The ‘First Edition’ grade has also been listed on JLR’s website, though it may not be available at launch. Expect the F-Pace to be launched at a starting price of around Rs 70 lakh.
