Kia Seltos bookings to begin from July 16

The upcoming premium compact SUV is expected to have a starting price between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 11 lakh

The Kia Seltos compact SUV, which recently made its international debut right here in India, is scheduled to launch on 22 August 2019. It will be Kia’s debutant product in the Indian market and features a distinct sporty design and a range of petrol and diesel powertrain options to choose from. Bookings for the Kia Seltos will begin from 16 July 2019.

Kia aims to have 265 touchpoints across 160 cities ready by the time of the launch. The numbers should go up to 300 by 2020 and to 350 by 2021. The Korean carmaker plans to sell the Seltos not only through its showrooms but through online channels as well.

It will be powered by three BS6-compliant engines - two petrol and one diesel. Apart from a 6-speed MT, Kia will also offer a 7-speed DCT, CVT and a 6-speed torque converter automatic with the Seltos.

Notable features on the Kia Seltos include UVO connected car technology with a built-in eSIM (like the Hyundai Venue and MG Hector), ventilated front seats, head-up display, a 7-inch colour MID (multi-info display), an 8-speaker Bose sound system, built-in air purifier with air monitoring display, up to six airbags, electronic stability programme (ESP), traction control (TC) and a powered driver seat.

As a compact SUV, the Kia Seltos will compete against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks, Renault Captur and Duster. Since it is expected to be priced between Rs 10 lakh to Rs 16 lakh, the Seltos will also compete with the Tata Harrier and MG Hector.
