UM Motorcycles hikes prices
UM Motorcycles has been selling its motorcycles in the Indian market in collaboration with Lohia Auto. However, the American motorcycle manufacturer has now increased the prices of its products, citing the rising cost of the raw materials and other parts as the reason. The new prices came into effect from January 1, 2017.
After the revision of prices, the Renegade Commando is now available at Rs 1.64 lakhs and the Renegade Sport S at Rs 1.57 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). They were earlier available for Rs 1.59 lakh and 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), respectively.
The Renegade Commando and Sport S are cruiser motorcycles powered by 280cc engine which produces 25.34PS of maximum power at 8,500rpm and 21.8Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm. It is mated to a six-speed gearbox. Both the bikes get service alert maintenance as standard fitment, charging socket, have huge 18-litre fuel tanks and weigh 172kg.
Commenting on the price hike, Mr Rajeev Mishra, director, UML, said, “This price revision is on account of increase in the cost of raw material and other cost of operations. We have rationalized the costs, but taken care that the impact is minimal. We also continue finance at attractive interest rates for customers to enter the brand.”
UM Motorcycles joined hands with Lohia Auto to form UM Lohia Two-Wheelers Pvt. Ltd (UML), which entered the Indian market in September 2014. Both the Commando and Sport S are manufactured locally at Lohia Auto’s Kashipur facility in Uttarakhand.
