Hyundai receives more than 1,100 bookings for Elantra

The sixth-gen Elantra has received a complete makeover with Hyundai's new Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language.

It was with the Santro hatchback that Hyundai entered the Indian auto market and the car was a big success for the Korean automaker. Over the years, Hyundai has evolved as a manufacturer of well-packed small cars. But for the last year and a half, it seems as if the company has shifted its focus towards new premium products like the Creta SUV. In August this year, Hyundai launched its premium sedan, the Elantra. The response to the new D-segment offering from Hyundai has been quite good since its launch, which is reflected by the number of booking received for the car in a quite a short period.

The car has received bookings of more than 1,100 units and 18,000 enquiries within six weeks of its launch, informed the country’s second largest carmaker in a statement. Following this, senior vice president (sales and marketing, Hyundai Motors India Ltd (HMIL), Rakesh Srivastava said that the company is ‘overwhelmed’ by the response to the Elantra.

“All round excellence and great experience are the true expressions that are associated with the All New Elantra. We thank our customers and reaffirm our commitment to the customers by reducing the waiting period for Elantra so as to love and enjoy new world-class products,” he added.

The Chennai-based manufacturer’s first new offering this year, the sixth-gen Elantra has received a complete makeover with Hyundai’s new Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design language. At the heart of things too, the sedan has been mounted with an all-new 1999cc petrol mill that produces 152PS of power and 192Nm of torque.

The diesel, on the other hand, is the familiar 1.6-litre diesel that has been re-tuned to churn out 128Ps and 260Nm. Both engines come with an option of a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic gearbox. Prices for the car start at Rs 12.99 lakh for the base variant (ex-showroom, Delhi).
