Benelli TNT 135 to launch in March 2017
The launch of the DSK Benelli TNT 135, which is a 135 cc mini-bike, is scheduled for March 2017, said Shirish Kulkarni, Chairman, DSK Motowheels. It was confirmed when the Chairman opened a new DSK Benelli showroom at Vadodara.
Even as a 135 cc offering, the DSK Benelli will come at a premium or even luxurious price of Rs. 1.3 lakh to Rs. 1.5 lakh for its displacement. The TNT 135 debuted first at the 2016 Auto Expo back in February in Delhi.
Mr. Kulkarni also said that the Benelli had been busy with the completion of formalities, which also includes the tests and trials. The commercial launch of the DSK Benelli TNT 135 will take place in March 2017, said he.
The Benelli TNT 135 will draw power from a single cylinder, four-stroke, air cooled engine displacing 135 cc, which gets mated to a five-speed gearbox. It will likely be tuned to make 12.6 bhp of peak power at 9,000 rpm and 10.8 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm.
Despite the price for a 135 cc offering, the styling of the motorcycle will pay for it, as it is inspired by the bigger siblings that we associate the Benellis with. Suspension duties will be handled by a 41 mm fork in the front and lateral shock absorber swingarm with pre-load spring adjustment system for the rear. Braking duties are performed by a 220 mm disc for the front wheels and 190 mm disc for the rear wheels.
The TNT 135 cc will be the smallest displacing engine of the DSK Benelli motorcycles, as it ranges from 250 cc to 1130 cc in India. DSK Benelli manufacturers its motorcycles via the Talegon plant near Pune, which can produce 50,000 units a year, built with an investment of Rs. 350 crore.
