Suzuki reveals updated V-Strom 1000 at INTERMOT

The bike will be available in global market from March 2017 onwards.

Suzuki's big adventure tourer, the V-Strom 1000, has been updated. The motorcycle got updated 15 years after the introduction of the original model. Changes include a new fairing which features a straight styling line from the tip of its beak to its ending at the fuel tank. Also, the adjustable windscreen has been reshaped and is now 49mm taller.

Handguards with larger handlebar vibration damper weights and a lower engine protector also now come as standard on the V-Strom. New colour options will be offered as well, but the overall design is just a mild evolution of what we’ve already seen with the current model, and it can still draw parallels with the 1988 DR750S.

For now, Suzuki will offer the adventure tourer in 2 avatars – the standard V-Strom and the XT. The standard model is for road usage while the XT, identified by its spoke wheels, is for rough road riding. The ABS on both bikes has been updated with Suzuki’s Motion Track and Combination Brake System. It works by adjusting brake pressure during upright riding and applies other pressure alterations when the motorcycle leans in either direction, in order to make the best use of the traction available

The technology includes Bosch’s 5-axis inertial measurement unit (IMU) that monitors the altitude, while the wheel speed and brake lever/pedal pressure are analyzed as well. The setup instantly adjusts the brake fluid pressure as required and can even apply the rear brake when the front brake pressure reaches a certain point, to increase stability especially while cornering.

Yep, the 1,037cc, V-Twin engine is now Euro4 compliant. Output figures come in at a touch over 100PS of power and 103Nm of torque. The V-Strom will be available in Europe starting March 2017, with the XT arriving in April.
