The MG Hector has been unveiled in full with all its details and specifications ahead of its June 2019 launch and we now have the variant-wise features as well. MG has started taking bookings for the Hector online and at various touchpoints across the country. It will be available with both petrol and diesel engines but the automatic transmission option will only be available with the petrol engine. There is a mild-hybrid petrol manual version on offer as well using a 48V lithium-ion battery. Here’s what the engine details are:

MG is offering the Hector in a total of five colour options: Aurora Silver, Candy White, Starry Black, Burgundy Red and Blaze Red. However, the base-spec Style is only available in white and silver, while the bright red colour is only offered from the Smart variant onwards.

Hector ‘Style’
MG Hector Style is the base-spec variant. It will be equipped with the following features:
Exterior - Roof rails, LED indicators on the ORVMs, halogen projector headlamps, steel wheels, roof rails, front and rear skid plates and rear spoiler.
Interior - Fabric upholstery, adjustable headrests for all seats, driver armrest and storage space, centre armrest with cupholders in the 60:40 split-folding rear seats and rear seat recline.
Comfort - Manual AC with rear AC vents, front and rear USB charging ports, 12V charging port, power adjustable outside rear view mirrors (ORVMs), tilt adjustable steering, keyless entry, rear wiper and washer.
Audio - 4 speakers audio system.
Hector ‘Super’
One step above, the Hector’s Super variant is better equipped. While the prices will be announced in June, in terms of features, this is the entry-variant one should consider. Here’s what it offers over the previous variant:
Safety - Rear parking camera, front parking sensors, cornering fog lamps
Exterior - LED tail lamps, LED rear fog lamps, silver alloys
Interior - Rear parcel curtain, chrome inside door handles
Comfort - Cruise control. Follow-me-home headlamps
Infotainment - 10.4-inch touchscreen infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility
Audio: 2 tweeters
Hector ‘Smart’
The Smart variant of the Hector is one step below the top variant while being the entry point for the petrol-automatic option. It offers the following features over the previous variants:
Safety - Side airbags for a total of four.
Comfort - Power folding ORVMs, tyre pressure monitoring system, push-button start-stop, telescopic steering adjustment and electronic parking brake (AT only)
Interior - Leather seats, six-way power-adjustable driver seat, leather wrapped steering wheel, chrome finish door armrest and LED reading lamps.
Exterior - 17-inch machine-cut alloys, LED front fog lamps, floating-light turn indicators, chrome finish on door handles and window beltline.
Audio - Infinity sound system with 4 speakers, 4 tweeters and a subwoofer
Technology - e-SIM internet connectivity with remote car operation through iSMART suite of connected apps.
Hector ‘Sharp’
This is the top-spec variant of the MG Hector mid-size SUV with all the bells and whistles. Here’s everything the upcoming Harrier rival has to offer on top of the previous variants:
Safety - Six airbags.
Interior - Four-way power adjustable front passenger seat.
Comfort - Panoramic sunroof, sunglass holder, heated ORVMs, rain-sensing wipers, an eight-colour ambient lighting, auto headlamps, 7-inch MID on the instrument cluster, powered tailgate and a 360-degree surround view camera.
The Hybrid Choice
MG will be offering the petrol-hybrid powertrain with the manual gearbox on the Hector’s Super, Smart and Sharp variants. This system adds engine idle start-stop, regenerative braking and E-Boost to the features list. The only thing you can’t have with the hybrid powertrain is the power-adjustable front passenger seat that is offered on the top-spec Sharp variant.
