China recalls about 3.2 million cars in Q1

About 2.5 million recalls were made in February alone.

Beijing: Over 3.2 million cars in China have been recalled in the first quarter of this year, with more than half being the Japanese brand, according to an official data.

About 2.5 million recalls were made in February alone, up 360.8 per cent year-on-year. Japanese brands were involved in about 51.2 per cent cases of recall.

Among them, the joint venture between Japanese automaker Nissan and China's Dongfeng Group reported the most recalls mainly due to faulty brakes.

Airbag inflators provided by Japanese firm Takata also led to major recalls, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
